The Kranzusch Lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School is recruiting a research technician to study enzyme biochemistry, and innate immune signaling during viral infection and cancer immunotherapy. The lab uses structural and biochemical approaches to understand signaling and evolution within the human immune system, and we are seeking an individual excited to study molecular biology and basic science research. The successful candidate will assist with general lab management, preparation of reagents and recombinant enzymes, and ordering of lab supplies. Additionally, applicants will work closely with all members of the lab, participate, and present in lab meetings, and have the opportunity to pursue an individual research project and co-author publications. We are looking for candidates that have at least one year of availability. This position will assist scientists in performing basic research. Responsibilities:
·        Learn advanced recombinant protein expression and purification techniques.
·        Maintain stocks of common laboratory proteins including polymerase and protease enzymes.
·        Pursue an individual research project related to innate immunity, enzymology, and structural biology.
·        Learn advanced experimental design and be responsible for intellectual commitment to position and relevant literature.
·        Prepare common laboratory solutions, competent cells and reagents.
·        Maintain a detailed notebook of protocols and research activities.
·        Participate in lab meetings and work closely with all members of the lab.
·        Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and work areas.
·        Responsible for ordering lab supplies and communicating with vendors.
·        Manage lab safety and communicate and work with Environmental Health and Safety.

Qualifications:
·        At least one year of laboratory experience.
·        Experience in molecular biology (PCR, cloning, bacterial transformation) and protein purification is preferred.
·        Must be reliable and organized.
·        Must be self-motivated to work independently and work positively as part of a research group.
