A day in the life:

  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of laws, rules and procedures pertaining to convictions, driving statuses, adjudications, hardship permits and other program areas.
  • Process and issue hardship permits.
  • Prepare correspondence pertaining to the suspension and reinstatement of driving privileges.
  • Review implied consent forms for accuracy and take the appropriate action.
  • Process ignition interlock device (IID) documents.
  • Review a variety of documents related to driving privileges and take the appropriate action.
  • Explain laws, rules and requirements related to the suspension and reinstatement of driving privileges to a diverse customer base, including courts, attorneys, law enforcement, other state’s DMVs and the general public.
  • Audit work task queues to ensure accuracy and verify legal sufficiency of notices to be mailed.
  • Prepare documents for imaging.
  • Work is performed in a typical office environment and may require long periods of sitting and lifting up to 30 pounds.

What we need:
  • Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents;

OR

  • An associate's degree; 

OR

  • Graduation from a private school of business with a certificate AND one year of general clerical experience.

Note: You do not need to have all of these qualities to be eligible for this position. 
 
  • Experience working in a high production environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and provide excellent customer service over the phone.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience explaining Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) and rules on complex subjects to customers, in writing or over the phone.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback to coworkers.
