Environmental Individual Placement AmeriCorps Member

Individual Placement (IP) members serve in a single placement setting at nonprofits, local government agencies, or higher education institutions. Service projects focus on natural resource management, climate change resiliency, and community outreach and education.

The Individual Placement program provides a unique full-year service experience where Corps members support a variety of projects to expand the capacity and reach of a partnering host site while receiving specialized skills-training unique to the position or agency. Host sites, service activities, and the quantity of positions vary from year to year and are based throughout Minnesota and surrounding states.

In 2023, the following positions are being offered:
  • Agriculture and Water Corpsmember: The Corpsmember will serve with conservation professionals with the Cottonwood and other area Soil and Water Conservation Districts supporting the work of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture with local implementation of the Minnesota Agriculture Water Quality Certification Program (MAWQCP), learning hands-on skills in assessing and managing soil and water resources. Based in Windom, Minnesota.

 
  • Invasive Plant Management Specialist: Primary duties will support high park priority invasive plant management and vegetation restoration practices in the Great Lakes Invasive Plant Management Team Network of National Parks. Interns will assist with manual and chemical plant control, native plant seeding/planting, equipment maintenance, data collection, data QAQC, report writing, identification of native and nonnative plants, outreach and education, and management planning.

This is a full-time commitment for a year-long AmeriCorps service term. The member will receive a monthly stipend and an education award upon successful completion of the term that may be used for education expenses or to repay qualified student loans.
