Staff Accountant

As our Staff Accountant for our corporate headquarters in Norwalk CT, you will have the opportunity to directly impact the financial reporting accuracy of our corporate office by managing daily accounting tasks for a rapidly growing division of a multi-billion dollar, public company. Winchester is a wholly owned subsidiary of Aptiv (NYSE: APTV) a global technology leader, with more than 180,000 people across 124 manufacturing facilities and 12 major technical centers worldwide. This position reports directly to the Manager of Accounting & Consolidations and will help improve the financial reporting and control environment of the global organization!

What will you be Accountable for?
  • General bookkeeping and organization of financial documents for the Corporate location
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
  • Full accounts payable cycle for the Corporate Office transactions
  • Daily cash reconciliation
  • Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations
  • Confirm intercompany balances with subsidiaries on a monthly basis
  • Preparation of the monthly financial accounts for the Corporate entity
  • Assist the team with monthly close process
  • Collaborate with the global accounting team on various projects
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities

How will you Collaborate?

Constantly seek feedback to improve the timeliness and accuracy of the company’s financial reporting. Work with corporate team members to make financial information and processes relatable.

  • Become a super user of Quickbooks & Beanworks and participate in decisions to improve utilization of these systems
  • Bring new ideas to make processes better and more efficient
  • Monitor compliance with company policies, and make recommendations to improve adherence

Criteria for Success:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
  • 1 to 3 years of accounting experience including (relevant internship work during college considered as work experience)
  • Ability to work in an open office Team environment (shoulder-to-shoulder with senior executives of the company)  
  • Ability to prioritize daily tasks and meet timely obligations
  • Expert Excel (vlookups, pivot tables) and modeling skills are required
  • Desire to exceed expectations and have a flexible, can-do attitude
  • Be ethical and focused on solutions
  • Be skillful with technology
