-Based on job duties, this position is designated as telework eligible on a hybrid basis (i.e., working at least 2 days per week in the office); the selected applicant must complete the initial training period prior to being eligible to telework. All requests to telework are reviewed and must be approved by ODOTs Chief Human Resources Officer.  

Official Position Description:
In the Office of Roadway Engineering, uses a computer & related software (e.g., MicroStation) to revise existing plans & develop new drawings & specifications for the Traffic Engineering Manual, Sign Design Manual, Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (OMUTCD), plan insert sheets & standard construction drawings. Gathers & organizes data; performs engineering research & product testing related to various roadway construction items & traffic control devices (e.g., roadway barriers & safety devices, signals & markings, signals & controls, highway lighting). Uses a computer & related software (e.g., MS Office Suite) to create presentations, enter data into spreadsheets or databases for analysis & prepare various documents as needed. Participates in field visits & inspections.

Performs various engineering related/administrative duties as assigned (e.g., organizes files, scans documentation, prepares manuals, updates/develops website) using a computer & related software (e.g., MS Office Suite).

Qualifications

Must be enrolled in college, university, or graduate school, and in good academic standing (i.e., GPA of 2.0 or higher).

Pay Rate Information
    Freshmen & Sophomore students - $15.46/hour
    Junior & Senior students - $15.96/hour
    Graduate students - $19.41/hour

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. An individual assessment of an applicant’s prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
