Lab Technician Internship Summer 2023

Alpha Analytical is New England's largest testing laboratory, offering internships for Summer 2022 to incredible candidates who are interested in chemistry and environmental sciences. During an internship with Alpha you will have first-hand experience working in a top-notch environmental testing laboratory.
What are we looking for?
An intern at Alpha Analytical will be doing a variety of different task that assist with the daily production in the laboratory. Depending on the department other duties will be assigned to each intern. The intern will be at either our Westborough or Mansfield MA facilities.
Some of the qualifications we are looking for are:
- High school diploma required, preferred intern is going to be a college Junior or Senior working towards degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science or related scientific field of study
- Lab experience (university lab experience is sufficient)
- Experience with and knowledge about basic chemistry and safe work habits in a laboratory environment
- Candidates must have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as strong written and oral communication skills
- Attentive and quick to pick up instructions
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Interns will work under general supervision but with a high degree of independence once trained
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job the intern is often required to stand (for long periods of time) and move throughout the lab. Accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform essential functions of this position.
What's a Normal Day Like?
Most interns will be expected to work Monday - Friday starting anywhere between 7-8 am and end around 3:30-4:30 pm depending on start time. You will have a half hour unpaid lunch.
In the laboratory, an intern performs routine laboratory procedures and set-ups of lab equipment and glassware in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Prepares standard solution reagents, media, and related materials to use in testing if required by department use.
