Annual Programs Intern

Part of the MFA’s External Relations Division, the Annual Programs team oversees the Museum’s highest level annual membership programs: the Patron Program, Museum Council, and Curators Circles, as well as the Museum’s annual fund, the MFA Fund. In coordination with the MFA’s Special Events staff, the Annual Programs team works to develop, plan, and execute high-quality cultural events and to provide special access for members of the Patron Program, Museum Council, and Curators Circles.

The Patron Program, established in 1975, represents one of the most important sources of unrestricted annual gift income to the MFA. This year, the 1,000 households of the Patron Program will raise $7 million to support the Museum’s annual operating budget.
The Museum Council, established in 1980, is Boston’s most prestigious young donor group, counting over 250 member households. The Museum Council is open to young art enthusiasts, aged 21-49, who together contribute over $200,000 in annual operating support.
Curators Circles, an exclusive benefit of membership for Advocates, Patrons, and Museum Council Fellows and Patrons, offer members an opportunity to take a deeper dive into specific areas of the Museum’s collections through special events.

In order to gain a more complete understanding of the programs, a successful candidate will assist Annual Programs staff with occasional evening events (significant advance notice will be provided).
