Transportation Research Analyst

Position Description:
 
The transportation research analyst will provide research and advocacy support for ACEEE’s transportation program, focusing on policies at the intersection of transportation, climate and equity at the local, state, and national levels. In particular, the analyst will contribute to research and engagement related to passenger and freight mobility policies and the role that these policies play in supporting vehicle electrification. The analyst will also contribute to ACEEE’s largest crosscutting projects to advance impactful and equitable energy efficiency policies economy-wide.
 
Core Responsibilities:
 
Specific responsibilities of the role include:

  • Conducting transportation research and synthesizing stakeholder feedback for ACEEE’s suite of energy efficiency scorecards including the state, city, and transportation electrification scorecards
  • Supporting ACEEE research, convening, and technical assistance efforts with local decisionmakers and community-based organizations (CBOs) to create accessible, low-carbon passenger transportation systems.
  • Help write blogs and thought pieces on issues relating to vehicle-miles-traveled (VMT) reduction policies
  • Conduct analysis and assist with modeling on the greenhouse gas impacts of various VMT policies
  • Supporting ACEEE in advancing equitable state transportation electrification through research, convenings, and publication of best practices

Qualifications:
 
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for and some knowledge of environmental, energy, and climate policy, preferably with a focus on clean transportation and equity
  • Interest in learning about crosscutting energy and climate policy
  • Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze large amounts of data and information
 
Required Education and Experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in natural or social sciences with at least 2 years of experience, or master’s degree
  • Experience with quantitative or qualitative analysis, including the use of spreadsheet software
  • Rigorous coursework or work experience in energy and environmental policy, transportation policy, or land use planning.

Preferred start date: November 2022. The position is located in Washington, DC, or can be remote.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary range is $50,000 - $55,000. ACEEE’s generous benefits package includes health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance coverage; a 403(b) retirement plan; transportation and bike-share benefits; three weeks of vacation in the first year and four weeks thereafter.
