Honors Biology and Physics Teacher at Bohemia Manor High School

POSTING ON BEHALF OF CECIL COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Teacher is responsible for the planning and implementation of the educational experiences within a classroom and as an outgrowth of the curriculum.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION
1. Plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students.
2. Supervises students in a variety of school settings.
3. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes.
4. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, and community.
5. Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. 6. Provides an atmosphere and environment so that each student will have the opportunity to develop intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally.
7. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
8. Maintains appropriate records.
9. Monitors and assists the student in the proper use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. 10. Participates in school and county workshops as directed.
11. Integrates the use of computers to achieve curricular goals.
12. Maintains regular, on-time attendance. 13. Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
  1. Bachelor's degree in Biology, Physics, Chemistry or related fields (master's and doctoral degree candidates are welcome). If the candidate's graduation date is after Nov 2022, the school will bring in a long term substitute teacher until the candidate complete their degree. 
  2. Has obtained or is eligible for an endorsement as a certified teacher as prescribed in the bylaws of the Maryland State Department of Education. If the candidate has not been certified in teaching, an offer of employment may be extended subject to certain provisions including certification within a certain period of time in the content area to be taught.
  3. Has good interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Ideally, the candidate should be able to start teaching full time after November 22, 2022.

SALARY
The salary range for this 10-month position for the school year 2022-2023 is $51,858 - $83,232, depending upon creditable experience and training. Advanced preparation and longevity increments are in addition to the regular classroom teacher’s base salary.
