Intern-Actuary
Security Benefit (SB) a leader in the retirement saving and income solutions market is seeking an Intern-Actuary. Intern will work remotely or hybrid in our Overland Park Office located in Corporate Woods.
The Intern will be exposed to many aspects of the company's activities, especially the day to day operations of the Stat Modeling Team. Intern will primarily assist with varying aspects of Stat modeling and analysis work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with updating and improving reports, spreadsheets and documentation
Assist with model updating, run and analysis for CFT, VM-21 or Bermuda technical provision
Data preparation and validation
Develop and utilize calculation tools in support of Stat projection models
Special projects as assigned
Eligibility:
Students eligible for the internship will be full-time students, available to work approximately 20 hours per week. Student will be expected to work during and in between semesters and up to full-time during the summer. This is not a summer only internship.
Qualifications:
Full-time college student pursuing degree in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Finance or Computer Science at the sophomore to graduate level
Commitment to pursue an actuarial credential demonstrated by preparation for Society of Actuaries-administered exams or exam credit
Advanced Excel knowledge/skill required including functions and macro creation, editing and use
Experience with SQL coding preferred
Experience with Visual Basic coding, Access, and/or C++ highly preferred
Strong GPA in major and in all areas of study
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines required
Accuracy and the ability to be very detail oriented are crucial
Demonstrates initiative and able to work independently
Ability to interact professionally with all contacts
