Intern, Data Science (Hybrid or Remote)

The Data Science Intern opportunity will include projects and tasks that relate to Advanced Analytics as well as provide the opportunity to support the team in a variety of daily functions and projects and opportunities for personal and professional development while working in a collaborative team environment.  
 
Responsibilities may include:
 
  • Collaborate with team members and business partners to understand business problems 
  • Work closely with team members to conduct research, propose solutions, and build data/modeling pipelines for high-profile projects to solve important business problems 
  • Any activity in the entire project lifecycle including goal definition, data discovery and processing, model development, model evaluation, model deployment, and model governance 
  • Compare results from various methodologies and recommend best techniques to team members and stakeholders 
  • Effectively explain technical concepts 
 
Job Requirements: 
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old at the start of the program (June 5, 2023) 
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent  
  • Actively enrolled in a bachelor or graduate degree seeking program at an accredited college or university with a focus in Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, or similar discipline
  • Completed coursework: Statistics, Computer programming, Machine Learning concepts, Relational Databases
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL. SAS programming is a plus.
  • Proficiency in descriptive and inferential statistics
  • Hands-on experience in machine learning through professional or school projects
  • Knowledge of various algorithms including Linear/Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Neural Networks, K-means, etc
  • Experience with cloud computing services such as Microsoft Azure
  • Passionate about data with a high level of curiosity, drive, and creativity to try new approaches
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and work autonomously
  • Team player
