Administrative Clerk

SUMMARY: Facilitates and oversees all administrative aspects of the House Research Organization (HRO) office. All work performed under the direct supervision of the House Research Department manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  • Overseeing daily office operations.
  • Significant interaction with House offices and departments, both by phone and in person.
  • Oversees administrative aspects of various matters, including personnel, HRO publications, steering committee meetings, and office budget and sometimes provides research support.
  • During legislative sessions, helps track staff assignments and assists with production and delivery of the Daily Floor Report.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: The preferred candidate will have state legislative, administrative, and clerical experience and be skilled in organization, time management, and interpersonal communication.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: General knowledge of state government policies and procedures preferred. Applicant must also be able to communicate effectively and professionally with members, staff, and the public. Skill in the use of computer, applicable software, and desktop applications. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. Must be able to meet strict deadlines. Must have flexibility to work extended hours and weekends when the legislature is in session and when otherwise required. Must be able to work in the office. This is not a remote position. Must adhere to department dress code and demonstrate the ability to follow all policies and procedures as set forth in the House Business Office and Personnel Manual.

GENERAL SALARY INFORMATION:
SALARY RANGE: $3,080.00 per month (Salary will be determined by experience and qualifications.)
