Conferences & Retreats Coordinator

SUMMARY 
Coordinates overall operation of program and program counselors. Ensures the supervision and safety of campers at all times.
 
The Spring Season runs from February 27th, 2023 to June 11th, 2023. This role will start on February 19th, 2023.

Compensation: $95.00/day

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Plans and delivers creative quality programming for weekend user groups, including evening activities. Designs program schedules to meet each group’s needs.
2. Assists in recruiting user groups to ensure camp is reaching maximum capacity.
3. Hosts assigned groups onsite as assigned.
4. Secures user group attendance and statistical information before group departs camp.
5. Conducts group satisfaction surveys to ensure that programs meet groups’ needs and are of the highest quality.
6. Maintains high standards of housekeeping including bathrooms, cabins and main lodge.
7. Assists in keeping all program equipment in working condition and available.
8. Assists in maintaining all program areas in a safe and orderly condition.
9. Ensures communication with support staff when hosting groups, including kitchen and maintenance staff
10. Assists in supervising assigned seasonal staff by observing, coaching, providing feedback and assisting with problem solving.
11. Creates accurate staff schedules on a weekly basis.
12. Evaluates staff as assigned.
13. Serves as program instructor as needed.
14. Provides excellent customer service.
15. Attends staff meetings.
16. Maintains relevant American Camping Association standards.
17. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
18. Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1. 21 years of age or older.
2. Experience in supervision is preferred.
3. Ability to work as a team with program instructors and director.
4. Skills in leadership development.
5. Experience working in programs that promote diversity, leadership, self-esteem and service-learning helpful.
6. Experience working with children or teens in a residential camp environment.
7. Ability to facilitate outdoor adventure activities such as group initiatives, climbing wall, and environmental science.
8. Ability to participate in activities that involve rigorous activity in an outdoor setting.
9. Current certifications in CPR and First Aid and current documentation available upon hiring/arrival.
10. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical activity, sexual orientation, etc.).
11. Current Wilderness First Responder strongly preferred. Documented knowledge of challenge courses and current safety standards and practices.
12. Demonstrate working knowledge of belaying, rappelling, knots, and rescue techniques.
13. Ability to participate in activities that involve rigorous physical activity in an outdoor setting.
14. Experience in leadership is preferred.
15. One or more years of college preferred.
