Essential Functions

This position involves assisting the athletic training department and reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer and Senior Associate Athletic Director for Performance as well as engaging in research activities while being mentored by faculty members from the School of Health and Kinesiology and Department of Biomechanics while completing the PhD in Biomechanics and Kinesiology. Specific duties include but are not limited to the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, assisting with physical examinations, supervision and mentoring of athletic training students in an accredited entry level graduate education program, coverage of athletic practices and contests. Travel with one in-season sport and nontraditional hours of work are expected. The graduate assistant will also engage in research activities, including research project design, data collection and analysis, interpreting results, and scientific writing while completing doctoral courses for a PhD in Biomechanics and Kinesiology. This list is meant to be representative and not exhaustive. Sport coverage is assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. This position will likely work with either the men’s baseball, women’s volleyball , or women’s soccer. Contract renewable up to 4 years pending performance evaluation.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree Required. BOC Certified are eligible to apply. Must be certified by August 1st, 2023 to begin appointment. Qualified applicants must meet admission requirements for the PhD in Biomechanics and Kinesiology program and be admitted into the program before being eligible for an assistantship.

Required Certification: BOC Certification, NE State License (or eligible)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Men’s and Women’s Intercollegiate Athletics.
