Legislative Assistant or Counsel

Democratic member of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee seeks a legislative assistant or counsel to handle climate, energy, infrastructure, transportation, and economic development issues. Primary responsibilities include developing and advancing a progressive policy agenda, preparing for hearings, developing and drafting legislation, coordinating with the senator’s oversight staff to propose and execute oversight projects, working with constituents and stakeholders, and managing a small team of staff. The staffer in this position will also oversee work related to advancing the senator’s priorities in annual appropriations bills. Candidates should have exceptional writing and analytical skills and prior experience working on issues in areas such as climate, energy, environment, agriculture, science and technology, budget, appropriations, economic development, transportation, or infrastructure policy.
