This position manages and coordinates the multi-million dollar accounting transactions and general ledger control functions for the State of Michigan Retirement System’s (SMRS) pension fund, the State Treasurer’s common cash fund, and various trust and agency funds. Position manages and coordinates the review and reconciliation of the limited partnership and LBO financial statement analysis function. Position also manages and coordinates various highly complex, yearly investment reconciliations and oversees various daily and monthly investment reconciliations. Finally, the position oversees the highly complex investment income reconciliation and distribution process to all pooled accounting participants.

Required Education and Experience
Education:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.

Experience:
Note: Experience is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree.
Four years of professional experience performing or auditing the systematic classification and evaluation of accounting data and the preparation of related financial and managerial reports equivalent to an Accountant or an Auditor, including two years equivalent to an Accountant P11 or Auditor P11, or one year equivalent to an Accountant 12 or Auditor 12. Considerable knowledge is required at the 12 level and thorough knowledge is required at the 13-15 levels. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

Alternate Education and Experience
Alternate Education and Experience Accountant Manager 12 Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of Accountant P11 experience. OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant Certification may be substituted for one year of Accountant P11 experience.

This position is eligible for remote work up to five days per week, however selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Please note that occasional onsite work will be required.
Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
Interviews will likely occur virtually using Microsoft Teams. No prior experience with Teams is necessary, as instructions and tips will be provided to all candidates scheduled for an interview.
