Spring 2023 Intern - Communications, Social Media

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering a Spring Internship to a qualified candidate who will support the Communications team. This paid internship is a part-time, temporary employment opportunity averaging 20 - 30 hours per week for a undergraduate student. PCORI does not provide housing for out of town residents. All applicants must be eligible to work in the US and located in the US. Pay Range and Employment Status:
Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits. 
Bachelor's level students will be paid $16.10 per hour.
Current master's level and above students will be paid $20.00 per hour. 
 
Position Summary 
PCORI is looking for an innovative, driven, and enthusiastic Social Media Intern to join our Communications team this spring. This is an opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of research and digital best practices. As a member of our department, your primary role will be to work with our team to develop a strategy to consider the introduction of Instagram into PCORI’s social media suite and overall communications activities. You’ll gain research skills, including content and competitor analysis and organizational benchmarking; and strategy development, including identification of goals and objectives and development of channel and content strategies, working closely with PCORI’s social media manager.

Required Skills

The Communications team is seeking an intern that will meet the following requirements:
  • Considerable knowledge of social media platforms, specifically Instagram
  • Strategic thinker and self-starter with an openness to learn and a willingness to think outside the box
  • Understanding of integrated communications campaigns
  • Clear, strong, and effective oral and written communications skills
  • Well organized, with concern for details, accuracy, and deadlines, and be able to set priorities
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to collaborate and build and cultivate personal relationships
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, take initiative and see projects through to completion.
 

Required Experience

Ideal candidates will be pursuing their undergraduate in one of the following areas: Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.

Applications for the PCORI Spring Internship Program will be accepted up to 12:00pm EST on Monday, Dec. 1. Applicants who are chosen will be phone screened by PCORI People Strategy and Services. Virtual interviews with relevant intern supervisors and teams will take place from Dec. 12 - 20.
