ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Rian Immigrant Center, located in downtown Boston, is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to provide support to the Development and Communications team. Assist with a range of fundraising activities and projects and become an integral part of our vibrant, fun-loving, and hardworking team.
COMPENSATION
- We welcome applications from students who qualify for work study compensation
- For those not eligible for work study, we can offer a cost of living monthly reimbursement stipend
- We are happy to assist with any requirements to qualify an eligible co-op for academic credit or external funding/fellowships
TIME COMMITMENT
10+ hours per week, between Monday and Friday - we are open to work with schedules - your weekends will always be free as our office is closed.
DATES
- January - May/June 2023
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the mission and values of Rian by demonstrating a commitment to social justice and equity; actively participating in Rian's efforts toward being an anti-racist organization; and value, promote, and integrate anti-racist ideas and policies into our work.
Grants Support – under direction of Director of Foundation
- Research prospects
- Research immigration trends and statistics to support grants
- File proposals and reports electronically
- Assist in communicating with program directors to gather data and stories for grant proposals and reports
- Support Director of Foundations in keeping grants calendars up to date
Donor Support – under direction of Development Associate
- Enter data in Salesforce CRM
- Prepare and send thank you letters under direction of the Development Associate
- Assist with Appeal letters and campaigns
- Research/ gather appeals and campaign ideas from other orgs
- Research development resources including event platforms like Remo
- Assist with event planning
General Support
- Join FB groups and WhatsApp groups that are community-based, to share information and stay apprised of what’s happening in the community
- Support team in story gathering and telling
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong attention to detail
- Enthusiasm for the mission of the Rian Immigrant Center and a commitment to and understanding of social justice
- Enjoy working in a flexible, dynamic, and multicultural environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Good writing skills a plus
- Good research skills
- Data entry experience a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications
- Organization, attention to detail and time management skills
