Special Education Teacher

Job description

Excellent opportunity for a Resource Specialist Program (RSP) Teacher to serve PreK to 8th Grade in the South San Fran, CA area. Requirements include Education Specialist Instruction Credential: Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe full time 7 hours per day. Start date as soon as possible until end of the school year. RSP caseload goes up to 28 students.
Responsibilities:
  • Plan and develop a course of study that is aligned with each assigned special education student’s Individualized Education Plan and is consistent with curriculum guidelines of the school district and the state.
  • Develop lesson plans in support of each special education student that include a variety of strategies to encourage student engagement.
  • Assess student learning as prescribed in the student’s Individualized Education Plan.
  • Collaborate with other staff members in the planning for Individualized Education Plan meetings.
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with accepted protocol and state regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate student progress to parents/guardians as required by the school or whenever such communication is needed.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to meet the social and emotional needs of students.
  • Utilize the Response to Intervention strategies developed by the district to address the unique learning needs of students.
  • Program focus is life skills and job skills
