Project Description
This project is a rigorous evaluation of a multisectoral program that tests the effectiveness of combining inputs on maternal and child health, early stimulation, and clean water for child development. The project is led by PIs based at IDEAS, LUMS, and University College London, working with a team of associates and assistants. Work for the project involves designing and operationalizing a randomized control trial and a rigorous evaluation. Research Associates will be supporting the team in all aspects of the project, including instrument development, data management and analysis, stakeholder management and liaison with partner organizations, and report writing.
We are looking for individuals with an interest in designing and implementing randomized control trials, designing survey instruments, handling quantitative data and conducting research in public health and early childhood development. This is a senior position and will involve development of implementation frameworks and close coordination with the PIs to operationalize the project.
Job Description and Requirements
A Research Associate will:
  1. Undertake quantitative and qualitative research including data analysis
  2. Assist the PIs and Program Manager in developing the study design, survey instruments, implementation protocols and piloting,
  3. Assist the PIs and Program Managers in conducting field work, coordination and managing the data collection process
  4. Assist the Program Manager in project management tasks and coordination.
  5. Manage the data, field notes, compilation, data storage
  6. Independently analyse research findings, and produce high quality background papers
  7. Produce high quality blogs and write ups
  8. Manage overall logistics of any seminars, workshops and conferences organized by the research program.
  9. Manage and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. This includes regular reporting to resident and remote research fellows;
  10. Offer research and/ or administrative support to other research programs as required.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential
  1.  Master’s degree in Economics, Education, Public Health, or any related discipline.
  2.  Outstanding data cleaning, analysis, and management skills using STATA and Excel
  3.  Outstanding writing, and analytical skills.
  4.  Very good communications skills
  5.  Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and reliability.
  6.  Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail are required.
  7.  Willingness to do fieldwork and travel as required.

Preferred
  1.  Work experience of 1-3 years, with demonstrable academic / policy research skills.
  2.  Experience collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
  3.  Ability to represent data in useful and creative ways
  4.  Additional local language skills e.g. Punjabi. Sindhi. Sirayki.
  5.  Working knowledge of NVivo
  6.  Use of Urdu keyboard.
