Stormwater and Water Conservation Social Media Intern

The Ipswich River Watershed Association (IRWA) seeks is seeking a motivated individual for a Winter 2023 part-time internship to join the Planning and Resiliency Program team. The Stormwater and Water Conservation Social Media Intern will be an integral member of the Greenscapes Coalition team. Greenscapes is focused on public education and outreach to promote sustainable and responsible stormwater management and water conservation efforts. This intern will lead the development a social media strategy including the development of social media content and identification of outlets to increase engagement with our content throughout North Shore communities.

Key Responsibilities 
  • Produce social media content to educate North Shore residents and community groups about the importance of water conservation and stormwater management. 
  • Establish relationships with local groups and social media accounts to help spread Greenscapes messaging. 
  • Develop a forward looking calendar for Greenscapes social media posts and engagement.

Skills and Experience
This position requires a person with a strong interest in environmental issues, watershed management, and public education. The ideal candidate will have a mix of relevant education and experience, and most importantly be passionate about IRWA’s mission to protect nature and ensure there is enough clean, safe water for people, fish, and wildlife.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with design software is a plus.

Hours, Schedule, and Compensation .
This is a part-time (~20 hours per week) internship lasting from January 2023 to May 2023. Specific hours to be worked can be flexible to accommodate student class schedules. Pay is $18 per hour worked. Preference will be given to applicants able to work some hours in-person either in Salem, MA or at IRWA’s headquarters in Ipswich, MA. However, IRWA is open to remote interns as well. Preference will be given to those students who qualify for the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (Mass CEC) internship funding. We encourage all interested applicants to confirm their eligibility with this program which is open to all students living in Massachusetts or who attend Massachusetts schools.
