Job Title: Strategy & Operations - Data Intern

The Strategy & Operations (StratOps) team reports to the Chief Operating Officer and strategically supports business units across Beacon with planning and directing administrative, operational, and financial activities. A key initiative of the StratOps team is to improve the reporting suites and metrics to drive business results. As a StratOps Intern, you will be responsible for working with each of the business partners who support Engineering, Professional Services, Go-To-Market, and Apps & Partnerships to improve their ability to track and report on metrics and KPIs for their respective business units. This may include developing databases, working with data visualization tools, developing decks to present metrics to business leaders, etc.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
This position will involve the following areas of responsibility:
- Work in different systems (CRMs, Project Management Software, Jira, etc) to extract data manually and via APIs
- Synthesize and present data in easy to understand/actionable formats for non-technical audiences
- Turn raw data into valuable insights through industry standard visualization tools
- Identify opportunities for automation and improving efficiency
- Critically think through business implications of data insights and present strategy recommendations
- Identify metrics that the team is not currently tracking but might identify gaps or successes
- Experiment with different methods of collecting data, different metrics to help answer specific business questions, and different graphical and tabular ways of presenting findings, then recommend the best combination of these approaches

Essential Criteria:
- Minimum of 2 years working toward bachelor's degree in CS, Math, Business, Economics or similar area
- Experience with data visualization tools
- Experience in basic statistical modeling and data analysis
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets
- Proficiency in Python or other coding languages is a bonus, but not required
- Comfortable working in a fast paced financial and capital markets technology company

Salary Range: $18 - $25 an hour.
