Circle Program is seeking a full-time Director of Programs & Camps who is interested in being a crucial part of our dynamic leadership team, leading our next phase in programming, and making a lasting difference in the lives of NH girls/youth, and teens. Circle Program is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower, transform, and enrich girls’ and teens’ lives through a resident summer camp, year-round programming, and a 1:1 mentorship. This position will reside at Circle’s Groton, NH summer camp from mid-June to mid-August and work from the Circle Program’s main office located in Plymouth, NH the other months of the year.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Programs & Camps, coordinates and provides supervision of year-round programming and Circle’s residential summer camps to ensure quality services to NH girls and teens in social-emotional development, health, wellness, and recreation. This position will support Circle Program’s mission in three capacities: 1) coordinate and lead youth programs during the school year, 2) oversee year-round Program/Mentor staff, and 3) oversee all aspects of Circle’s summer camp operations.
Ideally, this candidate will be a great listener and nourish the spirits of young girls and teens as they grow to adulthood. Our small leadership team is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with a demonstrated passion for recreation, nature, and youth development who will bring experience related to outdoor education, curriculum planning, summer camp management, and community engagement. Looking for one with a cooperative attitude as a team leader and the desire to have fun while working hard to safely and consistently deliver Circle’s positive youth development year-round programs and summer camps.
PROGRAM LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain high-quality program services.
- Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all staff and participants; and promotes a positive camp and program spirit.
- Provide orientation, training, and direct supervision to year-round and seasonal program staff.
- Liaison between program and administration, professional organizations, and community liaisons
- Maintain administrative records
- Oversee needs and concerns of day-to-day program operations
- Ensure seamless team management and development, program delivery, and quality control and evaluation.
- Supervise the program staff to ensure programs are maintained in a safe and healthy manner at all times. Including the mentor program.
- Ensure camp is maintained in a safe and healthy manner at all times while working with seasonal staff and the year-round maintenance supervisor.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain program and camp budgets to ensure proper spending.
- Maintain and train new and seasonal staff
- Participate in team events and programs.
- Actively participate as a member of Circle’s management team to promote cooperation, communication, and collaboration in accomplishing the organization’s annual and strategic goals.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program(s) by providing close supervision of all activities
- Be a leader in creating an inclusive culture among youth, staff, and program families.
- Recruit, supervise, hire, and provide coaching and development to the staff within the assigned departments; keep personnel files maintained to meet state and Circle criteria
- Maintain accurate program documentation (incident reports, accident reports, behavior reports, attendance & sign-in / sign-out sheets, and licensing requirements.
- Ensure that all supplies and equipment are kept safe and available, to operate a successful program(s)
- Create and maintain a strength-based, youth-focused atmosphere that is consistent and
sensitive to the needs of participants with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences.
- Plans and implements curriculum across program areas that provide growth in skills, self-awareness, group relations, and character development.
- Adherence to NH licensing standards.
- Relationship building and communication of information to parents, community partners, school personnel, Circle board members, and donors.
- Participation in Circle’s fundraising events and annual appeal campaigns.
- Positioning of Circle Program in the community as a resource and asset.
- Must be willing and able to travel between sites on a regular basis.
Work Schedule: Flexible schedule due to programming needs (summer and weekend days required throughout the year). Residential summer camp from mid-June through mid-August.
Experience: A good candidate will have a love for nature and a passion for working with youth.
PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND ATTRIBUTES:
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience managing youth development programs and three years of experience working directly with youth in organized afterschool care and summer camp settings.
- Nimble, professional team player.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Experience working with budgets, developing a budget, and fiscal management of programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and problem-solving strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership through experiences in supervision, community collaboration, and innovation.
- Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate staff.
- Adequately observe program activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
- Ability to deal effectively with children and problem-solve with parents.
- CPR, Wilderness First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications by 6/1/2023
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Ability to participate in physical activities with youth.
· Able to stand or sit for periods, able to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Must have a valid driver’s license
· Reliable transportation is required.
· Knowledge and experience working with NH Childcare summer camp licensing.
· The ability to work with people of all ages in both formal and informal settings.
SALARY: From $50,000.00
