Physical Requirements: Sitting and/or standing at workstation for extended periods; may require lifting and/or carrying light-weight objects, and walking to/from meetings/events.

Shift Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm; and occasional evenings and weekends.

Job Summary The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee the operations necessary for the delivery of University-wide career education services along with collaborative programming on behalf of the Stuckert Career Center, with emphasis on career community partnerships with each University college. The Associate Director will provide leadership for University-wide career development strategies, including but not limited to, developing college/discipline-specific career readiness programs and activities for a diverse domestic and international student body. Professional staff supervision and staff development will be focal points of the position, including performance management and data-informed practices designed to maximize quality service delivery and outcomes. This position will require an understanding and prior experience with career development practices and methods, including career coaching, career assessment, and experiential education. This position will identify and develop strong relationships with academic advising, employer relations, and other complementary university program areas.

Effectively manage multiple tasks and competing priorities. Experience building and developing a team and supporting professional development opportunities for staff. Experience supervising multiple staff and managing commensurate scheduling and service delivery decisions. Experience in counseling, advising or teaching students/adults on their career/professional development. Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and to interface effectively with employers, students, alumni, faculty and university administrators. Ability to embrace and drive change and to organize and manage multiple priorities, programs, and projects, both independently and in a team. Proficient in the use of web-based software. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required. Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication, program planning, presentation, and computer skills. Ability to establish rapport and relate well to students, faculty, employers, and staff. Ability to work with a diverse population of team members and constituents. Willingness to work collaboratively with academic units. Service-oriented approach. Careful attention to detail.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? Yes

Preferred Education/Experience: Prefer a Master’s degree in counseling, student personnel, human resources, higher education, communication, business administration, or a related field.
Prefer a minimum of 5-7 years of experience working with college students.
Prefer 3-4 years supervising employees. Experience in college/university career services (a minimum of five years of experience is strongly desired).
