Intern: AI-based Chip Design

As an intern at Synopsys, you will gain hands-on experience while working alongside industry professionals. You will develop and refine skills relevant to your major and future career by contributing to high-impact business projects. The Synopsys intern program integrates our interns into the culture with career opportunities upon graduation. This summer internship is full-time (40 hours/week) beginning May/June 2023 and will last three months.


Responsibilities:

As an intern, you will research and apply AI/ML techniques to chip design. Focus areas include RTL design, verification, software-hardware interface, and architecture. Our AI-based chip design program expands the successful DSO.ai reinforcement technology into multiple EDA problem domains. This internship will be directly benefiting new solutions developed by Synopsys in the high interest area of AI for chip design. Pathfinding and proof of concept for new AI-based design technologies in chip design including NLP, reinforcement learning, transformer networks, search-based optimization, and more.


Requirements:

  • Solid foundation in chip design techniques and methodologies, design tools (VCS, Design Compiler)
  • Proven background in one or more areas of computer architecture.
  • Sound programming skills (Python, C, etc).
  • Familiarity and hands-on work with AI/ML technologies including but not limited to deep neural networks, transformers, graph neural networks, etc.
  • Familiarity with high-level synthesis, high-level hardware languages (chisel, halide, etc.) a plus.
  • Currently enrolled in college pursuing degree in relevant field.
