Assistant Professor, Sport and Recreation Management

Job Description:

The Curry College School of Business and Computer Science invites applicants for a full-time Assistant Professor of Sport and Recreation Management (SRM) to begin for the Fall 2023 semester. Successful candidates will possess relevant practical experience and demonstrate subject matter expertise in the field of Sport and Recreation Management, evidence of teaching excellence, skill in engaging students through active and collaborative learning, competent use of instructional technology, exceptional oral and written communication skills, and a strong record or demonstrated scholarship potential.

Courses of interest would include Introduction to Sport and Recreation Management, Sport and Recreation Governance and Policy, Sport & Recreation Legal Studies, and Sport and Recreation Strategy and Leadership. Elective courses in International Sport, eSports, Sport Finance and/or Sport Analytics may be developed dependent on faculty expertise.

Additional responsibilities include student advising and engaging in service activities within the School, the College, the community, and the profession. Interested candidates should submit their application materials by January 13, 2023 for consideration. Evaluations of candidates will begin on January 13, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must possess a Ph.D. or DBA in Sport and Recreation Management or a related field. (ABD will be considered with a completion date before August 2023).
  • A minimum of 1- 2 years teaching experience in higher education.
  • Relevant practical experience in the field of Sport.
  • Ability to teach both day and evening courses.
  • Ability to teach in-person at both the Milton and Plymouth campuses (Massachusetts).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong research skills with the potential to publish in leading academic journals. 
  • Demonstrated potential for and commitment to participation in interdisciplinary collaborations.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable.
