Music Business Internship with American Beatbox
About American Beatbox:
American Beatbox™ is a NYC-based organization made up of world champion beatboxers, Broadway trail blazers, and music industry professionals dedicated to serving the growing global community of beatboxers and beatbox fans. At American Beatbox, our mission is to preserve and share the history of beatboxing as an original American artform, sustain the beatboxing community with resources and events, and spread the craft and lessons of beatboxing to future generations. We believe beatboxing can change the world and we’re looking for people who are passionate about music’s power to make a difference.
At American Beatbox, we create and host high quality digital content, produce live events, have original and collaborative merchandise for sale, provide links to event tickets and educational resources, as well as post general information on the beatboxing scene. Based in Midtown Manhattan, we have office space available for intern use but are very flexible with folks working remote. As we grow, we aim to connect the North, Central and South American beatbox communities and help facilitate growth and increased exposure for all. Internships with American Beatbox are eligible for credit.
Music Business Internship Responsibilities:
Our team is looking for ambitious, creative interns to help with a variety of music industry related tasks and projects. These responsibilities will/may include:
- Social media strategy development & execution with a focus on growing engagement, highlighting our community, promoting events, and increasing merchandise sales.
- Live event organization and production, specifically the 2022 American Beatbox Championships weekend
- Partnership research and development, including relationships with sponsors, advertisers, and grant providers
- Merchandise management including inventory, P&L’s, research and development, as well as order processing
- Website management and boosting the SEO of AmericanBeatbox.com
- Transcribe important information from AB meetings, as well as help team organize and execute next steps
- Share your ideas! We’re interested in hearing what you are passionate about and how your unique perspective and experience can help our mission.

We are looking for someone who takes initiative, asks questions, and has a positive growth-based mindset. We want someone who’s organized, works well with others, and communicates clearly and quickly. Good teamwork and professionalism are essential.
Skills we are looking for:
- Proficiency using Google Drive / Documents / Sheets
- Ability to manage calendar / timeline / meet deadlines
- Clear and regular communication
- Fluency with social media apps (Instagram/YouTube/TikTok/Twitter/Facebook)
- Ability to conduct research efficiently and compile findings concisely
