Position Summary
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join a successful research team and to help define and drive solutions for clients and patients! As an intern you will have the opportunity to learn about the role played by Patient-Centered Research in drug development. You will learn what clinical outcome assessments are and the role they play in drug development and labeling; the difference between qualitative and quantitative methodologies; participate in interviewing patients to learn how their disease and treatment impacts their lives; help in planning data analysis, and gain insights into clinical trial designs.

The internship is a 10-week position to provide support for multiple projects (including ‘live’ projects) under supervision, with tasks varying to degree by project and participate in targeted self-improvement projects. The Team
 
Patient-Centered Research
The Patient-Centered Research (PCR) group combines a unique portfolio of scientific disciplines, including health sciences, psychometrics, epidemiology, psychology, and many other social sciences. Our dedicated team encompass strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for research, including scientific contributions on a variety of projects related to the quantitative and qualitative development of Clinical Outcomes Assessments (COA), including patient, clinician and observer-reported measures designed to assess the impact of disease and treatment. Our staff also develop studies to evaluate patient preferences and utilities, execute various Implementation Science (IS) studies, conduct Delphi panels and do secondary data analysis using advanced statistical techniques. Our work has helped identify and clarify unmet clinical needs, assess burden of illness and evaluate patient outcomes, preference and/or adherence, while supporting promotional and labeling claims on a global scale.
 
This exciting and challenging cross-functional position also provides support across multiple projects within both, the Clinical Outcomes Assessments (COAs) and Implementation science (IS) team. The intern will learn the differences between study methodologies within patient-centered research including clinical outcome assessment and implementation science. This is a great opportunity to learn more by both participating as an interviewer on the qualitative portion of this study as well as assisting in data analysis and/or report writing.
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Assisting team members with designated tasks that drive the overall objectives of the function
  • Participating in Patient-Centered Research special projects aimed to achieving annual priorities
  • Assist with real-life Clinical Outcome Assessment projects including a survey as well as interviews by preparing for interviews, code qualitative transcripts, preparing tables for survey analysis, and/or participating in survey preparation UAT and/or report writing
  • Assist with real-life Implementation Science studies and help with screening and reviewing articles, charting them and in preparing a manuscript
  • Participating in internal Evidera training sessions relevant to your designated functional area, such as outcomes research to epidemiology, statistics, and health economical modeling.
  • The group has a brand-new PCR University Initiative that includes core trainings on all PCR methodologies. The intern will be required to take those trainings as part of the internship.
  • Attending and participating in meetings and conference calls
  • Other ad-hoc tasks under the direction of the PCR supervisor

Job Qualification

Education and Experience:
•    Must be enrolled or completed an MSc and/or PhD program
  • Majors in Health Services Research, Public Health, Health Economics, Health Policy, Psychology and other Social Sciences, Biology, Statistics and Mathematics
  • Some exposure to research skills and methods through coursework or work is welcome
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Good English and grammar skills
  • High level of proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
