Congressional Affairs National Security-Foreign Policy Internship

Partnership for a Secure America (PSA) is currently seeking spring interns. PSA is a nonprofit organization founded by former U.S. Representative Lee Hamilton and the late U.S. Senator Warren Rudman to advance bipartisanship on today’s national security and foreign policy challenges. Leveraging the leadership of its distinguished Advisory Board and Board of Directors, PSA has unique credibility and access to forge common ground and fashion thoughtful, fact-based policy discussion that promotes America’s national interests. Across multiple programs, PSA runs one of the most robust congressional education efforts in Washington, DC and works on a broad range of key issues including foreign policy, nuclear security, international conflict resolution, national resilience, and good governance initiatives. PSA works regularly with Congressional staff, executive branch, and think tank counterparts on these bipartisan programs (https://psaonline.org/).

Applicants should be organized, detail-oriented, entrepreneurial, and able to work on a team. Applicants should have strong communication and problem-solving skills. Successful candidates will have opportunities to assist with PSA’s congressional programs; they will also support PSA staff with research and writing. Interested applicants should have an interest in supporting bipartisan dialogue and solutions for American foreign policy and national security. This is an unpaid internship.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Research key foreign policy and national security topics
· Monitor legislation, Congressional activity and Committee proceedings, as well as current events
· Assist in preparing materials for PSA programs and events
· Interest in supporting PSA’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
Preferred Qualities:
· Interest in research, national security, foreign policy, and congressional engagement
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work as a cohesive team member
Time Commitment:
· Business hours Monday through Friday, and ability to attend PSA evening events
· Candidate with conflicts may still apply, but must disclose any potential time restraints
