P220435 - Data Analyst - Assessment and Research

Position Summary:
The Division of Student Life is accepting applications for the Data Analyst position within the Assessment and Research unit. In this role, you will join a growing team built to support data informed decisions that impact the student experience at the University at Buffalo.
You will support the Senior Research and Data Analyst in managing Student Life data and research initiatives by :
  • Querying the university database and analyzing data from department assessment projects
  • Developing custom reports and data visualizations for individual programs/departments
  • Cleaning and managing data from Student Life cloud-based software

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience.
  • Working knowledge of SQL programming language to construct queries against relational databases.
  • Experience collecting, managing, and reporting data.
  • Skilled in quantitative and qualitative research design and administration.
  • Ability to work independently to assess an inquiry, prioritize workload, and formulate timely responses to constituents.
  • High degree of attention to detail and work quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest level of data security and confidentiality.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with programmatic and learning outcomes assessment in an educational environment.
  • Knowledge of data management concepts, tools, issues and environments such as database application development/SQL programming, data/statistical analysis, and model development.
  • Experience with programming and visualization tools such as Microsoft Office (Access, Excel), SQL Server, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.
