The intern will influence new ideas and innovative solutions through collaboration over the duration of the 12 week internship. This is a project based internship that will provide the intern with a realistic job preview of a full-time position with JOANN.
This project will be focused on helping the company source with a multi country supplier matrix and analyze cost and resources. The intern will be researching new vendors in various countries, contacting & vetting their capabilities, who they work with, etc. The intern will also be requesting samples, negotiating costs and presenting these to internal cross-functional team members.
At the end of 12 weeks, the intern will have a solid foundational grasp on real-life Sourcing as it exists in the retail industry today!
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of all department's operations, processes, systems
- Research and analyze sourcing opportunities by using provided tools, as well as creative thinking and investigative skills.
- Use communication skills to work with internal cross-functional partners to determine needs as well as making initial contact with vendors to request information required to vet vendors and identify which might be the best fit.
- Partner with team to execute business needs
- Assist with special projects and analysis

- Ability to learn new concepts and skills quickly
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficient in Excel and MS Office
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Pursuing a bachelor degree in area of study
