Senior Clinical Research Nurse - Full Time - Mercy Hospital St Louis

Overview:
 
The Senior Clinical Research Nurse (SCRN) is responsible for coordination of research studies conducted by Mercy Research. The Senior Clinical Research Nurse is responsible for the day-to-day operational tasks related to clinical trials and performs a variety of duties including, but not limited to: volunteer recruitment, drug/device/supply inventory maintenance, interaction with physicians, nurses, office staff, patients, and clinical monitors. Duties also include the collection, compilation, documentation and analysis of clinical research data while following local, state and federal regulations.
 
The Senior Clinical Research Nurse will be responsible for communication and relationship building with sponsors and CROs within the hired clinical core. The SCRN must be willing to serve as a resource for other clinical research staff. The SCRN is expected to provide training and act as a preceptor for new co-workers within the respective core. The study load and complexity will increase from the CRN responsibility, thereby increasing the overall number of enrollments, research subject visits and study protocols supported.

Qualifications:
  • Education: BSN or bachelor degree in other science or health field with RN licensure
  • Licensure: Registered Nurse with valid license in state of practice
  • Experience:
  • 4 years clinical research experience with BSN
  • 7 years research experience with a non-BSN degree
  • 2 years clinical research experience with Master’s, NP, DNP, PA or similar degree
  • Other Skills and Knowledge:
  • Working knowledge of the research process and clinical trials. Must be knowledgeable and have an understanding of ICH/GCP guidelines as well as all regulatory and ethical issues governing the structure, functions, and requirements of clinical research. 
  • Incumbent needs excellent verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Must have a well-developed knowledge of medical terminology and a strong familiarity with electronic medical records. 
  • Must be able to prioritize and complete multiple projects independently and efficiently with little supervision.
  • Computer proficiency including word processing, database, spreadsheet and Internet search applications required with excellent customer service and satisfaction skills.
  • History of meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills in all aspects of work.
  • Expected to serve as a resource for other clinical research co-workers.
  • Must show a willingness to mentor and train other staff. SCRN may be asked to act as a preceptor on an as-needed basis
  • Preferred Education: Master’s, NP, DNP, PA or similar degree in a health/nursing field with 4 years research experience.
  • Preferred Experience: Developed nursing skills in phlebotomy, drug infusion, anatomy and physiology as well as pharmaceutical knowledge
  • Preferred Certification:  CCRC/CCRP/CIP
