Behavioral Specialist

As a Behavioral Specialist, you will support youth in our partnership with Boys & Girls Club of King County. You will also have the chance to help shape new and/or enhance current positive behavioral systems, support staff with behavioral interventions and behavioral plan development. 
 
ABOUT PROGRAM
As a Behavioral Specialist with Seneca, you will help support our growing partnership with Boys & Girls Club of King County. The Boys & Girls Club has over 30 clubs in the King County area. You would be asked to work directly in at least two different clubs for behavioral observations and support. This would include both direct work with young people and support for club staff. Outside of direct service support, you would support the Program Director in review and implementation of positive behavioral systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct behavioral intervention/modification for youth that decreases engagement in disruptive, harmful, or maladaptive behaviors and increases engagement in positive replacement behaviors 
  • Provide direct coaching and professional development to Boys & Girls Club staff and administration on Positive Behavioral Intervention Systems, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, and healing-centered engagement 
  • Collect data, record anecdotal youth progress toward goals, and maintain behavioral charting data through formal documentation methods (i.e., data tracking, mental health notes, progress monitoring, etc.) 
  • Engage families and other supports (teachers, coaches, mentors) in intervention planning 
  • Participate in professional learning communities to enhance practice and create coherence (i.e., weekly individual supervision and twice monthly group supervision to expand skills and receive ongoing coaching and support, training, etc.) 

Qualifications

  • Experience/education requirements:
  • • Bachelor’s degree OR
  • • Associate’s degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable work experience OR
  • • High school diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable work experience
  • • Applicable experience includes any paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families, or working in the social services
  • field
  • At least three years of experience working with youth with emotional disturbance and/or who exhibit extremely challenging behaviors and their families, preferred
  • An unwavering commitment to our youth and families, equitable and inclusive practices, and to exploring one’s own social location in holding the power and privilege of a service provider
  • Experience providing behavioral assessment, management, and interventions, or teaching preferred 
  • Ability and willingness to work at school sites across the South Puget Sound region and occasionally across the state, independently from home, and at times in the community
  • Strong written and verbal skills, including solid computer skills in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong organizational skills as demonstrated by the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated skill in delivering and accepting feedback with staff, colleagues, and supervisors
  • Valid Washington driver’s license, clean record, and insurability under Seneca’s automobile policy
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other State/Federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations

Schedule

  • Full-Time
  • Monday to Friday
  • Flexible Schedule 9:00am -5:00pm or 10:00am- 6:00pm
