DMPK leverages cut-edging technologies, deep subject matter expertise and broad scientific knowledge to deliver critical in vitro and in vivo DMPK data to support our drug discovery and development pipeline. Bioanalysis (BA) group, an integral part of DMPK, conducts studies to assess PK/PD characteristics of novel chemical entities/metabolites via rugged and sensitive LC-MS/MS-based assays. As a summer intern within BA group, you will explore various technologies to further improve our current quantitative assays for oligonucleotides. You will learn fundamentals of bioanalysis and mass spectrometry through collaborating with experienced scientists.

Position Description

Detailed description of role including but not limited to:
  • Develop and optimize LC-MS/MS bioanalytical method for quantification of oligonucleotides, which includes literature search and rationale with-respect-to experimental designing, executing laboratory experiments, performing data analysis and interpretations.
  • Explore and compare sample preparation techniques to process complex biological matrices, such as plasma, cerebrospinal fluid, and tissues.
  • Under supervision, engage in troubleshooting and system suitability assessments for a variety of analytical instrumentation.
  • Process data and summarize results.
  • Report and present experimental results.

Example projects may include:
  • Project 1: LC-MS-based method development for the quantification of oligonucleotides in plasma and tissue samples.

Qualifications:
  • Basic analytical chemistry lab skills are required
  • Understanding of common techniques used in bioanalytical research, including sample preparation, liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry
  • Hands-on experience with biological sample preparation and LC-MS/MS analysis
  • Good understanding of quantitative analysis theories • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Passionate about learning and taking new challenges
  • Knowledge or experience in oligonucleoside bioanalysis is preferred but not required
