Digital Media Intern

Bay Cove Human Services is actively seeking a Digital Communications Intern to work at our Downtown Boston location. Working within an assigned department, the student will work closely with the Development team, providing technical, administrative, and hands on support. The Intern may work on a variety of projects, applying their education to real world experiences.

Essential Functions of Position:

  • Understanding of, and utility with, a variety of graphic design programs and techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to create dynamic design elements across a wide array of styles
  • Ability to adapt design style and sensibility to the specific job and characteristics of a particular task
  • Ability to shoot short videos (primarily on smart phones) and edit together videos to create a compelling narrative, for use on social media, our agency’s website and through internal channels.
  • Ability to take still photography (primarily on smart phones) for use in Bay Cove publications, website and social media. These photos may be taken of agency staff or individuals we serve, and may be taken at a variety of agency program locations.
  • Ability to be a proactive contributor to the creative process from the beginning of a project through delivery
  • Ability to channel and focus creativity and execute projects under time constraints and deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a small team  
  • Create content with an emphasis on audience engagement
  • Understanding our target demographics and creating compelling content to reach them
  • Contribute innovative ideas for new projects

Qualifications:  
  • Adobe Creative Suite: 1 year (Preferred), Adobe Illustrator: 1 year (Preferred), Graphic design: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Confidence in creating graphics for social media.
  • Audio and video production/editing experience
  • Photography skills (preferred)   
  • Familiarity with usage of different social media channels strongly preferred. 
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Must be accurate, organized, punctual, and good at prioritization.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Have completed, or be working towards major, minor, or career in Graphic Design, Video production, or other aspects of media/communications.
  • Open to direction and constructive feedback.
  • Follows latest design trends.
 
 Vaccine Mandate Policy
All new employees, interns, and volunteers will be required to be fully vaccinated (14 days beyond last shot of Pfizer or Moderna or 14 days beyond receiving a Johnson and Johnson vaccine), or have received the first shot in a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) with an appointment scheduled for the second dose. A 2nd dose must be received within six weeks of internship.

This is a part-time, 2-3 month internship, with the opportunity to extend . Schedule hours (10-15 Hours/Week) and start date are flexible.
