Overview

Under indirect supervision, the Network Systems Analyst installs, integrates, and maintains data network components, storage components, and computing infrastructure. This position is responsible for monitoring disk-space usage, network usage, regular system maintenance and inbound traffic rules. Data analysis tasks to be performed include: definition, quality control measures, documentation of results and recommendations on fixing known and/or foreseeable obstacles to workflow. The employee in this position should possess strong leadership qualities, be able to shape the direction of the IT infrastructure, be proactive in planning for future contingencies and needs, and have the ability to establish appropriate new functionality as needed. The employee will also be expected to work closely with UNM IT staff; therefore, knowledge of their network is preferred.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or 5 years of directly related work experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
 
Must have proficiency with common network equipment in a Microsoft Windows environment; as well as Windows server and Windows Workstation and high-performance computing and NFS network. Must have experience with Active Directory with rfc2307, DNS, DHCP, high performance computing, Linux/Unix, storage area networks (SAN), VMware, ESX, vSphere, bash, and tcsh.  Ability to repair Linux machines without a re-install along with the ability to find non-standard install paths for programs and start them in Linux. 
         
Must have the ability to provide technical guidance and instruction to computer users along with experience managing multiple software and hardware projects while developing associated documentation.  Individual must be willing to work off hours if needed. This position will be on call during scheduled, critical events. Ability to find physical port on switch associated to management tools and trace a wire to its final location. Management of SolarWinds, firewall, and Gmail (business) and Google Docs.


Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience.
