Research Lab Tech 2 BWH Pathology - (Job ID 3228042)

The primary responsibility will be conducting electrophysiological experiments on cultured cells under the supervision of the principal investigator and a postdoctoral researcher. On a day-to-day basis, record ion channel current data using custom technology that is under development, maintain cell lines, and document procedures and data in detail. Simple DNA cloning/plasmid preparation and reagent preparation will need to be performed less often. Other routine tasks may include production of reagents, including nanochips and 3D-printed tools, and general lab duties.
The successful candidate will be trained to know how to operate the custom technology. Will be expected to perform experiments using the technology and commercial software for data acquisition and analysis with a high degree of independence (after training). This work will help to establish the technology and enable major advances in tight junction biology.

Principal Duties
Coordinates the implementation and progression of the studies related to electrophysiological analysis of single channel conductance events at the tight junction.
Designs and performs experiments with the PI and senior postdoctoral fellow.

BS in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or biological/physical sciences is required.
Must have at least one year of hands-on experience in a related research setting.
