School Psychologist (Paid Internship)

Seneca is seeking a full-time paid School Psychologist Intern position working within the charter schools in the Puget Sound area from Seattle to Tacoma. Schools include grades TK-12. Some flexibility is available with school preferences. Travel from home work-site will be reimbursed. The School Psychologist Intern position is a great opportunity to have an impact working in new schools with creative and innovation ideas and approaches.

Must be enrolled in a graduate program in School Psychology and eligible for internship (completed a practicum field placement year, currently enrolled in internship graduate course)
 
As a School Psychologist Intern, you will work as a member of multi-disciplinary assessment team and provides direct service to partner schools as a school psychologist intern under the supervisionof the Lead School Psychologist.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of an experienced school psychologist supervisor (minimum 3 years of experience in the role), the school psychologist intern will:
  • Complete Special Education Evaluations:
  • Conduct assessments and evaluation to determine eligibility for special education students, and provide information for educational programming for students
  • Facilitate and present results in evaluation meetings, providing the team with recommendations regarding eligibility and required support
  • Systematically reassess children with special educational needs as appropriate
  • Design Interventions:
  • Provide guidance and assistance to children with learning, behavior and/or adjustment problems at assigned schools
  • Support the development of appropriate individual and/or group programs of instruction and treatment of students in assigned schools
  • Provide Training & Consultation:
  • Provide in-service training in learning, child development and child management to parents, teachers, administrators and other professionals and paraprofessionals as needed
  • Provide consultation and advisement to administrators, teachers, and parents regarding the general and special educational programs as appropriate
  • Assist in coordinating, communicating and seeking consultation with community agencies as needed
  • Provide Counseling Services:
  • Provide counseling or social skills interventions using evidence-based practices to-individuals and/or small groups.
  • Support School-wide Systems:
  • Actively engage in systems level problem solving (e.g., MTSS team) with colleagues to plan, implement, and/or evaluate school wide practices that promote learning and-mental health
  • Engage in school-wide reviews of data (e.g., universal screening, attendance, discipline)to understand, develop, promote, and/or evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of school-wide policies and practices
  • Engage in supervision and continued training:
  • Attend group supervision (with school psych department; typically weekly)
  • Attend individual supervision (minimum one hour per week)
  • Attend at least one professional development opportunity (training or conference)

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a graduate program in School Psychology and eligible for internship (completed a practicum field placement year, currently enrolled in internship graduate course)
  • Developing knowledge of special education laws and regulations; general education curriculum; response to intervention principles; disabilities and appropriate curriculum;behavior management systems
  • Ability to work as a member of multi-disciplinary team under the supervision of an experienced school psychologist
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Valid Washington driver's license and current automobile insurance, and insurability through Seneca's automobile policy
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations

Schedule

  • This internship will work at no more than 2 sites and can be flexible on location, to be agreed upon by candidate and supervisor
  • This position will primarily be on-site, but there is room for flexible work hours and work from home
