Health Supervisor (Summer Position Only)
POSITION SUMMARY:
To oversee the health and safety of the camp population in a manner consistent with State of Michigan Licensing Rules, GSUSA Guidelines, and GSSEM safety activity checkpoints.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age with current license as a physician, physician's assistant, RN, LPN, EMT, paramedic, OR hold American Red Cross certification in both "Responding to Emergencies" AND "CPR for the Professional Rescuer."
- Valid driver's license required.
- Experience working with children preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of child development stages and related needs desired as well as familiarity with healthy lifestyles.
- Good judgement in anticipating and preventing accidents.
- Be able to act calmly, quickly, and give and/or follow directions during an emergency.
- Knowledge of safety practices as applicable.
- Must be ready and able to communicate well with girls and staff and be flexible about programming options.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Become a registered member of Girl Scouts of the USA.
- Hold the minimum of current license as a physician, physician's assistant, RN, LPN, EMT, paramedic, OR hold American Red Cross certification in both "Responding to Emergencies" AND "CPR for the Professional Rescuer."
- EQUIPMENT USED: Medical equipment including basic first aid supplies, biohazard disposal equipment, thermometers.
- PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES/DEMANDS: Sitting and standing for long periods of time, ability to maneuver across camp property to respond to camper medical needs. Operating equipment listed above. Ability to lift 20 pounds.
- WORK CONDITIONS: Activities occur both in an indoor and outdoor environment.
