Health Supervisor (Summer Position Only)

POSITION SUMMARY:

To oversee the health and safety of the camp population in a manner consistent with State of Michigan Licensing Rules, GSUSA Guidelines, and GSSEM safety activity checkpoints.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age with current license as a physician, physician's assistant, RN, LPN, EMT, paramedic, OR hold American Red Cross certification in both "Responding to Emergencies" AND "CPR for the Professional Rescuer."
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience working with children preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of child development stages and related needs desired as well as familiarity with healthy lifestyles.
  • Good judgement in anticipating and preventing accidents.
  • Be able to act calmly, quickly, and give and/or follow directions during an emergency.
  • Knowledge of safety practices as applicable.
  • Must be ready and able to communicate well with girls and staff and be flexible about programming options.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Become a registered member of Girl Scouts of the USA.
  • Hold the minimum of current license as a physician, physician's assistant, RN, LPN, EMT, paramedic, OR hold American Red Cross certification in both "Responding to Emergencies" AND "CPR for the Professional Rescuer."
  • EQUIPMENT USED: Medical equipment including basic first aid supplies, biohazard disposal equipment, thermometers.
  • PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES/DEMANDS: Sitting and standing for long periods of time, ability to maneuver across camp property to respond to camper medical needs. Operating equipment listed above. Ability to lift 20 pounds.
  • WORK CONDITIONS: Activities occur both in an indoor and outdoor environment.
