Kane Eviction Mediation Program Assistant (Remote, Part-time)

Resolution Systems Institute operates eviction mediation programs serving tenants and landlords in several northern Illinois counties. We are seeking a Program Assistant to assist the staff team serving parties on the front line in Kane County, Illinois, starting March 1, 2023.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist program staff with intake of program participants, and direct them to appropriate services.

  •  Format, enter and maintain accurate data and information in case management software
  • Contact program participants to explain the mediation process and refer to partner social service agencies
  • Schedule mediation appointments with parties and neutrals
  • Report to the Eviction Mediation Programs Manager on day-to-day functioning of programs
  • Virtually attend daily court calls, managing participant flow
  • Help parties navigate technical issues to ensure they can fully participate
  • Communicate with court personnel, such as eviction judges, bailiffs and court clerks, to ensure smooth interaction between programs and courts
  • Support outreach efforts to improve awareness and use of mediation programs

QUALIFICATIONS: We hope to hire someone who has experience with housing and/or mediation.

Minimum requirements for this position are:
  • At least 1 year of experience in a related field, such as legal services or direct services
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines while maintaining strong communication and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask amid evolving priorities
  • Comfort working with Zoom and other standard office software, including Microsoft and Google suites
  • Experience communicating with vulnerable populations

We would prefer someone who:
  • Has experience with case management, recordkeeping, document sharing and signature software
  • Is bilingual in Spanish-English

BENEFITS: The Program Assistant is a part-time position working 20 hours/week at $18/hour. There is some flexibility with the work schedule; however, the Program Assistant will need to attend court calls on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings. Part-time employees are eligible for a 401(k) and paid holiday and sick time. This is a remote position. but preference may be given to candidates located in Illinois. This position is grant-funded through June 30, 2023; continuation beyond that date is unknown at this time.
