P230023 - Postdoctoral Researcher - GSE Dean's Office

Position Summary:
The Graduate School of Education (GSE) at the University at Buffalo, SUNY is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, socially engaged community of scholars who prioritize teaching, research, and outreach that address educational, economic, and social disparities (For details, see GSE’s Strategic Goals). Addressing and combatting structural inequities, particularly racism, is central to the vision, mission, and work of the GSE. To do this effectively requires innovations in pedagogy and research that identify new ways of achieving equity, diversity, justice, and inclusion.

In recognition of this commitment, GSE has allocated resources to hire three 2-year Postdoctoral Researchers to extend the work that is underway. We are seeking scholars to join three exciting research teams starting as early as Spring or Summer 2023. Based on individual needs, the postdoctoral researchers will be provided with opportunities, resources, mentorship, and professional development to advance their research and career goals. There will be ample opportunities to hone skills in research with interdisciplinary teams, grant writing, dissemination of research findings through peer-refereed publications and conference presentations, and the translation of research to practice.

Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse Prevention (1 Postdoctoral Researcher)
The Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse Prevention, an endowed research and outreach center dedicated to preventing bullying and other forms of school violence, invites applicants for a 2-year Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to collaborative interdisciplinary scholarship and translation of research to practice in the areas of understanding, preventing, and intervening with bullying abuse and school violence. Scholarly interests may include, but are not limited to, creating positive, safe, and inclusive schools and reducing bullying and violence of marginalized youth. The Postdoctoral researcher will conduct original research, collaborate on research and programming on technology and digital media use in relation to cyberbullying, school engagement, and mental health, and develop professionally through faculty mentorship.

HELP (Health-Education-Life Protection) for Pandemic-affected Minoritized Children at Risk: Cross-state and Cross-sector Investigations of Systemic Racial Inequalities (1 Postdoctoral Researcher)
HELP, an interdisciplinary research project, seeks applicants for a 2-year Postdoctoral Researcher. The project strives to identify best evidence-based policies and practices for promoting whole-child/youth development and improving systemic racial equity for underserved student populations across the nation. The successful candidate will work under the mentored supervision of faculty in the Department of Counseling, School, and Educational Psychology. The Project HELP researcher will engage in mixed-methods research (large-scale data analyses and case studies) and collaborate on research manuscript writing and grant proposal submission.

STEMM Identity Research (1 Postdoctoral Researcher)
The research team is engaged in a variety of projects related to measuring and promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) identity for K-20 students, particularly those under-represented such as Black/African Americans, Hispanic Americans/ Latinx, Native, Alaskan and Pacific Island Americans, and Women. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be mentored by a team of faculty in science education, counseling psychology, sciences, engineering and medicine in all dimensions of academic research, psycho-social aspects, and career development. We are particularly interested in candidates with research expertise in STEMM education (any level of K-12, undergraduate and graduate), educational measurement and evaluation, and educational Equity, Diversity, Justice and Inclusion (EDJI).

The term for the post-doc research associate is two years. Candidates with research expertise in STEMM education (any level of K-12, undergraduate and graduate), educational measurement and evaluation, and educational Equity, Diversity, Justice and Inclusion (EDJI) are particularly welcome e to apply.
