Program Support Assistant (OA)

Summary


This position is located in USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Foreign Disease Weed Science Research Unit in Frederick, MD.
In this position, you will serve as a personal assistant to the Research Leader (RL) and other professional staff, coordinating a wide variety of administrative and clerical tasks essential to the program administration of the Management Unit.


Duties


  • Prepares travel requests and vouchers for foreign and domestic travel.
  • Maintains a detailed knowledge of travel policies and regulations in order to serve as a technical resource to unit personnel.
  • Participates in program planning support work such as research project coordination, travel documentation, budget coordination/tracking, agreements, and purchasing/procurement of supplies and equipment, and human resources administration.
  • Schedules conferences and meetings, including arranging logistics, preparing agendas, and notifying participants.
  • Serves as the primary administrative business process point of contact for the unit.


Qualifications


GS-06:
Specialized Experience: . The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience assisting with planning and coordinating administrative tasks; preparing or tracking budgeting or accounting forms; and reviewing outgoing correspondence for proper format, grammar, and punctuation.
GS-07:
Specialized Experience:  The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience reviewing and editing manuscripts or reports intended for public dissemination; purchasing and procuring supplies and equipment; and coordinating events such as conferences, seminars, or training.
