Volunteer Coordinator

Overview

 
The Volunteer Coordinator will work with area organizations to recruit, train and manage area volunteers and connect them to participants within the Advocates community. They will coordinate daily activities and volunteer project events.

Minimum Education Required

High School Diploma/GED


Responsibilities

  • Liaison with other agencies and organizations to identify potential volunteers in the community
  • Liaison with Advocates staff to identify individuals who would benefit from the interaction with a volunteer.
  • Train the volunteers and ensure that they have obtained the appropriate background checks.
  • Coordinate project events to bring together potential volunteers.
  • Maintain and provide reports and statistical record keeping for agency and program funding sources related to the Volunteer Initiative.
  • Track and report time accounting sheets and expense reports as required by funder.
  • Attend trainings, supervision and staff meetings as assigned.
  • Ensure that individuals we support are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates’ Human Rights Policy.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all principles related to the Advocates Way.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years’ experience in Human Services or administrative role. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred: Spanish and or Portuguese
  • Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Ability to flex time to work nights and weekends.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
  • Must hold a valid drivers’ license. Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle.
