Operations Training Specialist (GS-7/9/11)

This is not a remote telework opportunity. The position is located at Indianapolis, IN. Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination.


Duties


Provides training and operational support to all selected DFAS individuals in the Expeditionary Support Organization (ESO) deployment process and DFAS employees currently stationed overseas.

Provides advice, recommendations, and assistance for pre-deployment and post-deployment operations to the ESO organization and employees.

Administers and tracks current status of all DFAS civilian employees in pre-deployment and post-deployment operations, including training requirements and deployment preparation and activities.

Manages a variety of special projects by creating and executing plans of action and prioritizing multiple tasks effectively. Prepares and presents briefings to senior leaders and large groups.

For vacancies filled at less than the full performance level of the position, duties will be developmental in nature.

  • This announcement will be used to fill positions with an entry grade of GS-7, or GS-9 with a target grade of GS-11.The minimum salary for grade GS-7 is $47,124, the maximum salary is $61,261. The minimum salary for grade GS-9 is $57,642 the maximum salary is $82,522.?The minimum salary for grade GS-11 is $69,741 the maximum salary is $90,661.


Qualifications

For the GS-7, position applicants' resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as assisting in gathering data pertaining to the training needs of an organization.

For the GS-9, position applicants' resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as gathering, consolidating, and analyzing data pertaining to the training needs of an organization; interpreting and applying administrative management policies, regulations, and procedures in order to collaborate with administrative staff and management in the areas of personnel management, training, initiating personnel actions, and/or scheduling events.

For the GS-11, position applicants' resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as gathering, consolidating, and analyzing data pertaining to the training needs of an organization; interpreting and applying administrative management policies, regulations, and procedures in order to make recommendations or process improvements in the areas of personnel management, training, initiating personnel actions, and/or scheduling events and presenting findings, options, and recommendations, via briefings, staff reports, project papers and etc.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

GS-07 One full year of graduate level education or a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Superior Academic Achievement: S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.

GS-09 Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.

GS-11 Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to substitute for the specialized experience requirement.
