
Intern, Downstream Process Development
This is what you will do:
The process development intern is responsible for performing assigned experimental and/or theoretical tasks to support the development of Alexion’s therapeutic protein candidates. The intern will learn and apply principles of biologics process development in one or more of the following: chromatography, filtration, ultrafiltration/ diafiltration, and high thorughput analytical support. The intern will also be responsible for performing literature searches on assigned project, work with cross-functional teams, perform experimentation with guidance, and be able to present on the work performed as a presentation and technical report.
You will be responsible for:
- Literature search on the project to learn about current developments
- Being trained on relevant equipment and systems being utilized for the project
- Execute experimental studies to optimize a process and/or develop tools critical in biologics process development
- Working with Downstream Process Development team to develop tools essential in process development
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to meet the needs of the study
- Document findings in electronic notebook, reports, and presentations
- Communicate all findings to relevant business units
You will need to have:
- Students working on BS in biology, chemistry, or engineering are welcome to apply
- 0-2 years experience working in relevant laboratory setting
- Coursework completed in biology, chemistry, engineering, or related field
- Good interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills
- Experience with MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Desire and ability to learn new techniques and use problem-solving skills
- Physical elements: Bending, standing, working with small parts, reaching, kneeling
We would prefer for you to have:
- Experience with AKTA/protein purification, experimental design, analytical experience, buffer prep
- Basic lab skills (ie: pipetting, weighing components, pH/conductivity measurements)
