Research Specialist

This position supports School of Nursing faculty in coordinating grant-funded research projects in the school's signature areas of:

- aging and care of older adults,
- children, family and reproductive health,
- health disparities,
- public health and health systems,
- mental health and substance abuse and
- symptom science and palliative care.

This position supports several research projects. Currently, this position is funded at the 0.50-0.60 FTE, supporting two faculty, and is annually renewable based on funding. Opportunities to increase FTE, if desired, may become available.

Projects currently funding this position include the research portfolios of Dr. Kristen Pecanac (https://nursing.wisc.edu/staff/pecanac-kristen/) and Dr. Maichou Lor (https://nursing.wisc.edu/staff/lor-phd-rn-maichou/). Dr. Pecanac's research involves audio recording clinician-surrogate conversations regarding whether to withdraw or withhold treatment of seriously ill adult patients in the hospital setting. Dr. Lor's research involves multiple projects that work with persons with limited English proficiency to improve their health screening and care provision.

The Research Specialist will work with research teams (faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students) to manage task timelines, recruit participants, collect data, produce project communication materials, manage data, draft grant reports, assist with journal articles, purchase project materials and manage participant remuneration.

Candidates should highlight any applicable experience with research management, collecting data, healthcare, and operating projects under state or university policies and procedures in their application materials.
