Field Attendant - PTS

Description/Duties & Responsibilities
The City of Santa Clarita has a part-time/seasonal (PTS) position available in the Arts and Events division. Under the leadership of the Arts and Events Supervisor and Coordinator, this position will assist the Field and Facility Reservations team in providing a quality customer service for field reservations at various facilities. This position will be responsible for visiting various park facilities within the City as well as working in an office environment.
This position may work up to 20 hours per week in increments of 4 hours shifts; these hours are based on the needs of programming. Other family, school, or work obligations will not disqualify you, but you must be available to work between 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at least 4 days per week including varied hours on the weekends and occasional holidays.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists in the organization, set-up, and clean-up of facilities and fields
• Monitors facilities and field reservations at various City locations including enforcing field
• reservations, rules, and regulations
• Opens and closes facilities and maintains cleanliness of facilities
• Drives to various field locations
• Ensures all City policies, procedures, and protocol are enforced
• Interacts with participants and visitors in person, phone, and e-mail
• Reports incidents and accidents and completes incident/accident reports
• Effectively addresses issues and concerns with patrons as they arise
• Utilizes City’s calendar for reservations and field lighting software
• Maintains various forms, logs, and reports
• Attends meetings and training sessions as needed
• Works with other program areas, as requested
• Other activities and duties as directed by Arts and Events Coordinators
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• One year of related work experience working with the public, responding to questions and concerns
• Possession of a valid Class C California Driver License
• Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary will be considered
Knowledge and Abilities
• Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and positively both orally and in writing
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle conflict, issues, and concerns with youth, teens, and parents
• Strong leadership and customer service skills; ability to serve as a role model to others
• Ability to make sound decisions within established guidelines and be a creative problem solver
• Ability to observe safety principles and work in a safe manner
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with organizations connected to the performance of required duties
• Ability to drive a vehicle and travel to various city facilities
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Strong work ethic, proactive, and the ability to learn quickly
• Ability to learn and navigate a variety of recreation software as needed
• Strong team player and the ability to work both independently and as part of a work group
• Ability to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends)
• Ability to lift, drag, and push files, paper, equipment, banquet tables/chairs, podiums, stage, and dance floor weighing 40 pounds or more
