Clinical Research Coordinator

About Adams Clinical and the CRC position:

Adams Clinical, a research site specializing in late-phase psychiatric and neurological drug testing, is seeking entry level applicants for a clinical research coordinator (CRC) position. Adams Clinical has locations in Watertown, MA and Boston, MA and provides access to experimental therapeutics for psychiatric and neurologic conditions. The CRC position consists of main three phases: (i) a 10-week onboarding process; (ii) a 10-to-36-week period of working as the second coordinator on a large study; and (iii) eventual assumption of lead CRC responsibilities as described below.

Onboarding:

CRCs at Adams Clinical initially complete a 10-week onboarding process. The first element of this program covers subject recruitment, where CRCs lean how to evaluate and recruit treatment-seeking potential trial participants. Subject recruitment will then constitute the primary duties of the new CRC while they complete the remainder of the onboarding process. Second, CRCs receive training on medical procedures, increasing in complexity to a point where CRCs feel most comfortable, including the opportunity to learn how to safely perform phlebotomy. Finally, the program incorporates training on good clinical practice and clinical research study operations. Throughout this process, CRCs will spend time in small group training sessions led by our doctors.

Assisting as a Second Coordinator:

After onboarding is completed, CRCs will then assist an experienced CRC on a large double-blind placebo-controlled industry-sponsored clinical research study. This period as a “second coordinator” gives newly on-boarded employees an opportunity to interact directly with participants and doctors for the vast majority of their day. Here, there is an emphasis on learning and practicing clinical skills.

Lead Coordinator:

Lead CRCs receive a raise and increase in responsibility, working collaboratively with Adams Clinical’s leadership to select the best study to lead from the outset. The job involves managing non-lead CRCs, direct contact with pharmaceutical companies, and twice-weekly meetings with the full medical leadership team to report on study status.

This position is well suited for applicants planning on attending a graduate program in psychology or medical school within the next 1-3 years. Throughout your time at Adams, you will also have the opportunity to work for co-authorship credit with clinicians on various ad-hoc research papers and posters for publication.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college.
  • Minimum 2-year commitment required.

Compensation:

Pay starts at $60,000/year with benefits (e.g., health insurance, 401k), salary increases once CRCs ascend to a lead coordinator role.
