POSITION: Creative Content Manager  
LOCATION(S): Bethesda, Maryland 
JOB TYPE: Full-Time 
Reports To: Director of Marketing and Communications Department: Revenue 
FLSA Status: Exempt 
 
JOB / POSITION SUMMARY  
Create engaging and brand-focused content to increase revenue through storytelling. As an essential member of the Marketing and Communications Team, manage the editorial calendar and deliverables from brainstorming through creation. Design print, web and video content. Attend events and wishes to capture content. Manage Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic website and event websites.  
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create graphic design content that furthers the brand impact in the DC, Northern VA and Maryland media market.  
• Work with the appropriate departments and collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications, manage the design of chapter collateral, including but not limited to direct mail, web and social content, donor acknowledgments, fact sheets, campaign overview sheets, PowerPoint presentations, event collateral, volunteer communications, blogs, wish stories, chapter brochures, displays, signs, posters, Program Services materials, digital and traditional advertising and all other internal/external communication content.  
• Collaborate with freelance designers for graphic and web projects, as assigned.  
• Manage orders for branded materials and print needs. Maintain relationships with vendors.  
• Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Team on the management of the editorial content calendar. Project manage the design process including reviews and feedback. Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Communication Manager to create and edit copy.  
• Attend wish celebrations, reveals, events and family interviews to capture film, photos, and social media content.  
• Create in-house video content from storyboard to filming to editing/producing.  
• Manage the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic website and chapter-specific microsites. 
 • Adhere to all Make-A-Wish® America performance standards and Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic internal controls, policies and procedures.  
• Protect the chapter’s brand identity and ensures its use in keeping with current Make-A-Wish America standards.  
• Attend chapter events as necessary in support of the Foundation’s mission.  
• Other duties as assigned.  
 
DIRECTION RECEIVED  
Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.  
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS  
These describe the minimum level of qualifications needed for an individual to perform the essential functions of the position including education, licensure or certification, and any measurable, job-related experience.  
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing or similar field; or equivalent work experience  
• Experience: Three (3) years of experience creating storytelling content using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premier Pro for external marketing campaigns.  
• Computer/System Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Drupal or similar web CRM. Salesforce or database management software preferred.  
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None  
• Other Requirements: Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.  
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES  
• Knowledge of social media, web, and e-marketing best practices. 
 • Ability to design and create content with adhesion to brand guidelines.  
• High attention to detail especially with external communications.  
• Ability to exemplify a “can-do” work ethic and attitude.  
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to manage multiple priorities, and work in a deadline-driven environment.  
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of professional demeanor and work successfully clearly with a wide variety of constituents including donors, board members, volunteers, wish families and vendors. 
 • Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity, trustworthiness, flexibility, compassion and humor necessary to address the practicalities of a growing nonprofit, along with the creativity and persistence required to elicit new thinking and change.  
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  
The physical demands noted below are representative of those that will be required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, employees must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. In addition, the employee is regularly required to communicate accurate information and ideas so others will understand both in person and by telephone. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to observe details at close range, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires constant operation of a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. On occasion, the employee may need to lift up to 25 pounds.  
 
WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS  
Working conditions include the environmental and other conditions which might affect the desirability of the job. Employees work under typical office conditions, and the noise level is usually quiet. In certain assignments, an employee may occasionally travel overnight and / or work at Make-A-Wish sponsored events.
