Buildings Project Manager II

The Buildings Project Manager II with the Department of Buildings & General Services (BGS) will provide critical staffing support in the areas project scoping, contracting assistance, project budgeting, project scheduling, and project financing assistance. The position is responsible for project supervision of major energy projects, including the coordination of required involvement of an architect or engineer. The Project Manager (PM) must manage all phases of projects from investment grade audit, through to conceptual planning and feasibility, then from design and engineering to procurement and construction to measurement and verification and project closeout. 

Oversight and supervision of consultant engineers, contractors, technicians, and BGS project resources are daily responsibilities. Included in this role is identifying the proper funding source, budget, and appropriation of said budget for each project. The PM will also be responsible for conducting accurate energy savings scope of projects including budget and payback. Controls work requires advanced understanding of networking and communication protocols, reading control diagrams, troubleshooting building issues at the software level, and providing direction and expertise during specification, design, and build phases of projects. The PM will act as an engineering representative for the State on municipal construction projects and may be asked to provide guidance and leadership to participating municipal governments, RPCs, and partner organizations with the purpose of institutionalizing continuous improvement culture and finding efficiencies between the State and political subdivisions. The position will perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
OR
Associates degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field AND two (2) years or more of experience in engineering, architecture, construction management, or construction supervision.
OR
High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) years or more of experience in engineering, architecture, construction management, or construction supervision.
OR
College senior in final semester of Bachelor’s degree program in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.


Special Requirements
Candidate in final semester of Bachelor’s program must graduate prior to start date.
